This project was for great friends of mine, thus, I was allowed to try a few unorthodox ideas. The space was formally a glass repair shop and wasn’t a very exciting. Glass repair shops don’t need to be. The number one European motorcycle service center in the North East, does need to be. A few simple ideas really made this a more pleasurable place to be. Staircases were relocated to help with the flow, Lounges were designed on site, massive motorcycle display platforms were structured, proper insulation calcs were peformed and implemented, etc, but the most effective change was to utilize reflective ceiling panels which capture light from the translucent wall panels on the exterior walls thus flooding the service bays with indirect natural lighting. It’s a more vibrant place to be for sure, and now has a lower lighting and heating bill. I love the smell of VP C12 in the morning.
